Rosie's renovation in:

Paris, France

The chestnut-coloured wooden beams dating from the 17th century have been stripped back, cleaned and exposed to accentuate the traditional charm of the neighbourhood. Natural light from the two floor-to-ceiling windows floods into the salon area and is enhanced and reflected by an enormous mirror above the sofa. The use of grey, white, black and bronze against the wood lend the apartment a calm Nordic air, and the buttoned bed head and designer Pierre Frey curtains add a luxurious finish. Original stone tiles were chosen for the backsplash in the kitchen, set against white wooden cupboards.

In the bathroom, pearly reflective wall tiles are used to make the room seem large and bright, and I chose a Parisian style bathroom sink with chrome legs to add a vintage look to the small space. Honey-coloured 'Pointe d'Hongrie' wooden floorboards were laid in the living room and bedroom to reflect the natural light, and the walls were painted bright white to accentuate the luminosity of the apartment. Modern design classics were chosen to furnish the space, such as the “Eames” style white dining chairs, the vintage black “Grasshopper floor lamp” designed in 1948, and the Danish-style pearl grey upholstered sofa. The metal-style work top, modern chrome appliances and custom made white wooden cabinetry offer you something that is rare in small spaces in Paris - a complete kitchen. The apartment is in a 17th century building with original beams. Set high above street level with a sunny and open view over a tranquil and pretty courtyard, the apartment has a luminous ambiance thanks to the three meter high ceilings and two floor-to-ceiling windows.

Rosie's renovation in:

St Ives, Cornwall

Whether you want to stay and relax in its light, stylish interior or get out and enjoy the sea air, you're just seconds, (50 metres) from lovely Porthgwidden Beach and its award winning restaurant/cafe, the Island and the quaint streets of Downalong. A stylish, light, apartment with magnificent sea and coastal views, it is ideal for up to 2 people, with one double mezzanine bedroom (restricted height and open tread stairs to bedroom), a sitting room with integrated dining area, kitchen and a separate bathroom with power shower over bath. The apartment has windows on three sides. The sun rises in the living room, and sets on the landing, so you have light all day. The living room has a ten-foot window seat with views out across St Ives Bay, towards the Godrevy Lighthouse. It is a great place to sit and chill after a day walking the coastal path, surfing, or swimming in the sea, which is warmed, on Porthgwidden Beach, by the Gulf Stream. As a former artist's studio, the apartment is at the heart of St Ives' artistic heritage. It has a happy feel and being so close to the beach, allows those staying to connect with nature and the sea in a special way.
